Serdoun winter 08

Serdoun winter 08

Strong colours set to a Daft Punk soundtrack set the tone for Serdoun's winter 08 collection on the catwalk at Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007 with cocktail and daywear with a European flavour.

Stronger, Faster sung the techno track as models strutted by in turquoise eyeliner, matte lips and dewy faces. Serdoun played with proportion with leg of mutton sleeves and a voluminously hipped dress in white wool knit. I really liked a soft grey cashmere cardi. For cocktail wear, Serdoun showed a navy peacock corset with a mini skirt pleated from the waist. A cuffed-sleeve tee in satin and more feminine touches in a ruffle-front black satin loosely fitting tee and a nice red, turquoise and blue graphic printed dress with longsleeves.

"I really like this collection" said a woman behind me as a green polo with twisted front panels walked by. Later they got very excited about a canary yellow bow-front structured slip dress.

With Alissa Serdoun's winter 08 collection, the cold war is over. This Russian-born Kiwi designer is all about the warmth.
