Art and fashion at Pixel Ink
Thread visited Pixel Ink Gallery set in the heart of cultural Newtown in Wellington to be greeted by talent and treasure.
Although a studio and art gallery Pixel Ink is also a fashion boutique featuring New Zealand made clothing and accessories for men and women at a fabulous price. The Gallery is a private endeavour run by passionate and business savvy Illustrator Rosalind Clark. Supported by partner Glen Cooper, the Galley opened in November 2008 and since this time a number of successful exhibitions have been launched.
Pixel Ink Gallery Director Rosalind Clark says a vision behind her Gallery was to “keep everything geared toward illustration but not limited to it”, Clark reflects that “illustration does not often have a place to exhibit so this is the cave for it”. The Gallery features works by artists lending toward specialising in contemporary illustrative art. Clark says “Our mission is to exhibit and sell fine art in a space where art lovers, art investors and artists alike can experience all that is great about New Zealand artists alongside a small selection of boutique fashion”.
Fashion and accessories are represented by up and coming labels including Nouveau, Design by Nature, Misty Lang, Selector, Little Stella, Deco and Jimmy Hood. Our favourites included a resign brooch and some 1960s button cufflinks.
The current exhibition opened this week. ‘Harmony- Two creatively different artists exhibiting their works in Harmony’ is a collaboration of works, by Rosie Harper and Susan Skelton. Both artists have different techniques, styles and backgrounds and have joined their talents in order to exhibit a series of paintings.
