Soft touch

Soft touch

I'm usually a smudged-brown-with-black-mascara kinda girl, so it was with a combination of some trepidation and curiosity I tried the new pastel colours from Dr. Hauschka.

It's good to branch out- particularly when I only ever wear the colour palette of an actual branch - so I prepared myself to get pretty. And if there's ever a time to get pretty, it's springtime.

The new spring colours from Dr.Hauschka bring a light touch that is very subtle, in their limited edition Natural Pastels Makeup Collection. Forget the last time you wore pastel blue or mint green eyeshadow at your school ball circa 1991. This is really delicate and is best worn with a light, sheer foundation or tinted moisturiser that allows your skin to show through.

I tried the green and anthracite Kajal eyeliner pencil Duo 2 ($39) and wore it out. I immediately got comments that the green was so pretty. I smudged it a bit on the lashline with the anthracite charcoal shade to give it depth and strength. I found the eyeliner was hard on the pencil but warmed on the skin making it soft enough to blend and actually use to cover the lid.

The eyeliner also comes in Duo 1 in a berry and black combo ($39), pictured on the model below.

Carrying on with the springtime theme, the palettes are embossed with a flower blossom, which in the rouge powder duo ($57) separates the lighter and darker shades of blush. You can either blend them or use separately as a cheek contour and highlight.

The pastel eyeshadows ($39) come in a rose pink, minty soft green, delicate light blue and palest dove grey shades, pictured below.

The two spring lipstick shades are a nude pink and a berry pink ($47). I found the nude gave a full coverage with an almost chalky matte finish.

With the natural ingredients we know Dr.Hauschka is famous for, you can relax knowing you're not putting a chemical combo on your eyes and skin. They select medicinal herbs and plant botanicals to create their cosmetic formulas.

So I'm glad I branched out for spring and got into some pretty shades of pastels - be brave, you can do it too!
