Wear your art on your sleeve

Contemporary artist Chavah Kinloch has had a great start to 2010.

Bajidoo Bangle Boutique, based in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A has picked up three of Chavah's paintings and transformed them into bangles, making her their first featured artist.

Chavah submitted her piece titled QueenC to the company and was then asked for permission to use more of her paintings. Four new designs have been created and are to be sold at the largest craft U.S. Tradeshow, showcasing to over 10,000 people as well as on-line.

In the same week, Chavah was contacted by the organiser of a show called First Thursdays. Chavah is set to be one of eight featured artists for the upcoming show to be held in Auckland in February. Works from Chavah's painting, photography and bangle collections will be featured in the show when she attends next month.

Her bangle design, Urbanesque, is pictured above (US$42.50). Chavah submitted in the category of Graffiti with QueenC and this is the bangle design that was born of that original work of art.

Born in Western Samoa in 1984, raised in Auckland and now living in Southland, life for Chavah has always been diverse and colourful, just the way she likes it. She is inspired by her heritage, emotions, motherhood, beliefs and reflections on life. These ideas are translated onto canvas through texture; symbolism and poetry to create an array of work that can connect personally with each individual. Her paintings are creative and colourful as she chooses colours, subjects and styles that reflect her mood on the day. Chavah exhibits regularly throughout New Zealand and has sold both nationally and internationally.

"I am overwhelmed by the positive response to my art. It's wonderful to have new and interesting opportunities come my way." Chavah says. The bangles can be found through Chavah's website www.chavahkinloch.com.
