Folk 'n rocking hair
When it comes to letting your hair down music-wise, rock and folk are normally at the opposite ends of the melody band.
Now L’Oréal Professionnel brings rock and folk together in its autumn/winter 2010 colour collection that reflects the style trends we look to our music icons for.
In L’Oréal Professionnel’s new Rock ‘n’ Folk collection, the eclectic, edgy and bold world of rock meets the poetic, free and authentic world of folk inspired by the influence music has had on style through the generations.
“This season, two of the key trends taking shape showcase the iconic and musical worlds of rock and folk as seen on the international catwalks of Europe,” says Paul Serville.
Rock styling has been restlessly captured in the Majirel ‘backstage’ looks for the collection featuring bold cuts and striking colours in electric and mythical styles. Think Billy Idol and Debbie Harry!
They reflect the work of designers such as Gucci, Alexander Wang and Balmain who have dominated the northern hemisphere catwalks with edgy, bold and leather-inspired numbers bringing rock chic to fashionable wardrobes everywhere.
The Folk feel is represented by LUOCOLOR ‘on the road’ and channels the lifestyle of the travelling musician. It’s a fashion revival that has seen the likes of Anna Sui, Missoni and Kenzo producing eclectic prints, heavy knits and layering for a soft and subdued look.
For the folk look, reflect on evergreen artists Janis Joplin, Joan Jett and Joni Mitchell.
Two creative hairdressers from Paris have interpreted L’Oréal Professionnel’s autumn/winter 2010 collection: Yannick d’Is is behind rock and Marc Lopez has designed folk.
Each style from L’Oréal Professionnel’s new Rock ‘n’ Folk collection can be transformed into multiple adaptations to suit lifestyle, hair length and texture.
In the Rock collection, Billie utilises two contrasting Majirel shades to convey energy and modernity in a cut inspired by the ‘80s, short at the back and sides with length on top for a tousled effect.
Amy brings together touches of strategically-placed Majirel colour in three shades for a modern look in a long-hair style of lustrous waves that shrieks sexiness and boho glamour.
The sumptuous golden hues of Debbie are achieved using two complementary Majirel shades to add radiance and modernity to a bob cut inspired by the ‘70s with exaggerated volume through the crown and a high shine finish.
If Folk is more your style, look to Joni for a sun-infused blend of Luocolor shades with highlights for contrast in long, straight and narrow tresses back-combed for volume.
Joan embodies a natural looking colour created by blending a combination of Luocolor shades for a radiant result in a young, fresh style for a carefree looking mid-length bob cut in a rounded style.
Stunning aubergine highlights on a rich Luocolor base distinguish Janis in a cut that whispers ‘just got out of bed’ set off by texture, volume and attitude in confident feminine waves.
Available in L’Oréal Professionnel salons from March 2010
