Que Sera Sera
Grand Opening of the new Sera Lilly Boutique
2 Williamson Avenue, Ponsonby, Auckland.
Wednesday 17 February 2010.
Feminine cuts with eye-catching fabrics are the staple of the collections we have seen from Sera Lilly, and her new store at 2 Williamson Avenue reflects similar designs.
With the benefit of having a larger space to play with (the previous store was located in a smaller space on Ponsonby Road), the décor includes open brick walls, a floral feature wall and glass chandeliers.
Pretty, quaint and welcoming – it is an ideal area for which to peruse her wares – and in this opening instance – nibble (read: gobble- it was straight after work) on some sushi and cupcakes with champagne and Vitamin Water (which by the way is quite good and not nearly as sweet as one would think).

It was a family and friends atmosphere and my plus one and I happily pottered around to absorb the room’s atmosphere. With a bouncer on the door and a pianist in the corner, the evening was very much a celebration of Sera’s success in what has been a fast rise in the NZ fashion world since starting up her label with the $3000 prize from winning the 2006 ASB Grand Slam Young Designer Award.

The lines of fashion have also branched out - as well as the standard fashion items, Sera has included drawers of accessories – from bow-belts in every colour, Kagi jewellery pictured below, and Henry Holland stockings (which you may remember from her 2009 ANZFW show) to her new focus of bridal wear, available on the second storey.

With the growing visibility of Sera as a designer, it only makes sense that a new space were to be taken up, and the organisation and confidence of the event and the beauty of the shop indicates that she is fitting in just perfectly.
