What's new 'n natural

Here are a few of the latest releases in natural beauty and skincare to keep your beauty regime free of chemicals and nasties, including products from Weleda, Giovanni Organics, Oxygen. Sukin and Dr.Hauschka...

Pictured left: Dr.Hauschka Pure Care Coverstick ($39)

If you're anywhere near my age, you'll remember a TV ad that went "Pimples Love Parties" and cartoon pimples wore party hats and blew noisemakers. That slogan has stuck in my mind for twenty years whenever I get a spot just before a big event. So it was with excitement I tried out the coverstick from Dr.Hauschka. The 01 natural shade was quite light and didn't blend in exactly to my skin so I needed to finger-blend it - but I realise it is not a conventional concealor, but a botanical antibacterial coverstick to support healing using Anthyllis and Calendula. The next day I noticed a massive improvement in the spot which had dried up and wasn't as red. Would definitely recommend.

We consistently hear good things about Giovanni Organics and it is very reasonably priced for organic haircare too making it an affordable and healthy option. Here are two of their latest products.

Giovanni Organics Golden Wheat Deep Cleanse Shampoo ($19.95)

This deep cleansing shampoo from organic haircare brand, Giovanni organics, is designed to bring volume and shine while removing oils and impurities to normal to oily hair. It would be perfect for those who suffer lank, over-oily hair, and do not want to pump loads of moisture into their hair, but rather want to gently remove oil that's not needed. If you have dry hair, use another one of Giovanni Organics' range aimed at moisturising, rather than clarifying hair.

Giovanni More Body Volumising Styling Gel is a natural hair thickener that whips maximum volume and body into limp, thin and lifeless hair. This chic hair-whipping gel uses a unique blend of vitamins and protein-enriched organic oils to infuse each individual strand to rebuild and repair unhealthy hair.

Weleda Iris Intensive Treatment Masque ($26.90)

A moisturing deep treatment with plant extracts from cucumber and organic birch along with Almond Oil, organic Jojoba Oil and pure essential oils. You apply a layer after cleansing and leave on for 15-30 minutes then remove with moist makeup pads and rinse with warm water. Use once or twice a week.

Sukin Hand and Nail Cream ($10.99)

A paraben-free Australian product with hydrolysed soy protein to strengthn nails, with aloe vera and vitamin E to soothe hardworking hands. Has a fresh, clean fragrance with a hint of lavendar.

Oxygen Women's Intensive Moisturiser ($42.00)

The second product called 'Intensive' (as well as Weleda's Intensive Treatment Masque above) is just that - a rich and creamy moisturiser to instantly soothe dryness and help repair damaged skin. It contains Hydriame, a natural active ingredient sourced from the sea which moisturises skin by locking in moisture to increase firmness and soothe dry skin. It has a mild fragrance, not highly perfumed, and would be ideal for sensitive skins. Available at www.oxygenskincare.co.nz

Trilogy Travellers $39.90

Thread has long loved Trilogy's rosehip oil formulas for years and their packaging keeps getting better and better too! They have re-vamped their travel packs with two new skincare essentials and a cute cotton travel bag!  It includes Trilogy Cream Cleanser (30ml), Vital Moisturising Cream (20ml), Ultra Hydrating Body Cream (30ml), Hydrating Mist Toner (20ml) and Gentle Facial Exfoliant (10ml). As they are all under 100ml they are perfect for carrying in-flight, too.

So there you go- the latest in natural beauty for your face and body for a healthier skincare regime.
