Mums' Day Out
From pregnant women in lingerie, to a sex aids shop, through to the more usual stands of maternity fashion and childrenswear, there was something for all the family at the ASG Parent & Child Show we attended at ASB Showgrounds this weekend.
I asked women if they thought they got their $15 ticket value and there was an astounding yes; due to the trinity of info to research, free goodies, and discounted products on offer. I received over a dozen free nappies, many samples, baby food, and bought a $10 box from Tresures with $65 worth of baby gear inside.
Friday was chocka block with buggies and the mutters of "Sorry! Sorry" as bottlenecks formed around the free nappy aisles. The aisles were wider than usual but still got blocked and I heard a new phrase for the first time; 'Pram Jam.'
It wasn't all buggies though; plenty of pregnant mums-to-be too. And I counted the sum total of two dads in tow, looking a bit fish-out-of-waterish.
Now in its 17th year, the show also includes free seminars on parenting topics from Judy Bailey, Kathy Fray and others- but you probably better attend without the kids if they have a short attention span - and free entertainment including roaming fairies and a puppet show, and the WotWots performing live twice daily.

My favourite stall was Seedling where I bought a halfprice easel/whiteboard/blackboard. They have a cool concept coming up instore at Remuera, The Kids Only Shop, where children can shop in a shop inside the shop for Christmas presents for their family, and everything is only $10. No adults allowed! It is open from 4th December 2010 10am to 4pm daily at Seedling, 347 Remuera Road.

I liked this super cute childrenwear label, aprilmaykids.
