House of G on Queen
With archetraved walls and various 'rooms', Glassons played on the 'House of G' moniker with the interior re-fit of its Queen St store.
It re-launched today to become the new flagship - taking the crown from the Newmarket Glassons store - to be the newest and largest.
The stockroom out the back has been gutted to become a 17-berth changing room - with, I noted, nice wide doors that can actually take a baby buggy now - and luxe tie-back curtains, decent lighting and good mirrors.
Shoppers queued at 8am for $50 voucher giveaways and the first hundred got lucky. There were a few that didn't get vouchers but there was plenty inside on offer if they missed out; free manis from fabulous nail technician Leah Light, free fashion styling seminars from NZ Next Top Model Stylist Kylie Cooke, and lollies galore.

Glassons has really tapped into what New Zealand women want in their wardrobes. I thought a few years back the invasion of the Aussies (in particular Supre) would harm it but it has kept going from strength to strength. I don't know any woman that doesn't have a piece of Glassons in their wardrobe. Now they are such a long-lasting institution that Glassons customers' daughters are shopping there. Probably buying the same things their mums bought, too; fashion is so typically cyclical.
Below: Thread liked the thoughtful touches throughout; free wifi instore, a bloggers corner (with limited sites on tablets), a couch for patient boyfriends, and fantastic design touches.
We loved the interior re-fit at Glassons including these paper mache animal heads created by Delia Burke.
Another feature I liked - also seen at Country Road stores - is the Last Chance To Buy rack, with (non-discounted) ends of styles on the one rack.

The wilderness-inspired Hunter story in its Autumnal shades, in particular the key seasonal trend of mustard.
