Cybele's Bird Girls
Introducing the BIRD GIRL AW season range from Cybele.
I went along to the Cybele shop in Ponsonby, for the launch of her Aw12 range BIRD GIRL. As well as wine and nibbles we were treated to a glimpse of the Auckland designer’s latest and greatest.

This upcoming season’s range consists of dark earthy colours including deep purple, brown, muted red, black, sandy gold and mustard. She also seems to be taking a page out of 90's fashion with her use of screen-printed, mesh long-sleeve tees, among other throwbacks. Which I personally love. I imagine you would feel like the poster child for London circa ‘97. It’s really nice to see high-end Kiwi designers taking note of international street style and incorporating it in their collections. Go Cybele, go! (Editor's Note: Megan also remembers fondly the tattoo mesh prints of Jean Paul Gaultier, and a local Auckland shop, Virus, in the early Nineties.)

Of course no Cybele collection would be quite the same without her trademark over-sized tunic; this year sees them with a basic, clean cut, postmodern feel.
My picks for this range is pretty much any one of the screen-printed garments. I just love the Mythology dress, and as you can see from the picture it translates really well as everyday wear.
