Karen Murrell knows her colours, and the red.shimmer lipstick in her gorgeous lipstick range - that I personally wear almost every day - is this true red shade.
Many lipsticks contain carmine pigments to give their red colour, made by crushing shells, wings, and eggs of the female cochineal beetle.
Karen Murrell lipsticks however do not contain any carmine beetles - or any animal-based materials - or any mineral oils, parabens or preservatives.
Rather, she uses synthesized pigments, Iron Oxides derived from mineral sources, and pearlescent pigments based on natural mineral mica.

Don't be misled by the "shimmer" title; it is actually a creme and not glossy or shimmery.

Red.Shimmer by Karen Murrell retails for $30 from selected pharmacies and health stores. See www.karenmurrell.com for details.
